your words ripple
effortlessly across
my soul soothing
wounds left too long
unhealed and seething
bloody anguish
glistening until
the next wave rolls in
releasing me from
an angry past
at last, aye, at last
serenity cleansing
my all too eager
profanity preferring
instead to lay my
head upon these sands
and allow your words
to wash over me
once more like
poetry upon water

Wow, George. This is clearly a case of the caused being superior to the cause. It’s so meaningful and personal and thoughtful… I am humbled to have played a small role in bringing these words into the world.
Yours,
David

Small role? Mate, your role in inspiring me is huge. But then, as I wrote below my poem, “the humbly brilliant David ben Alexander”. Cheers, my friend.

Cheers, Mate 🍻
(that’s not how I speak at all, but you’ve made feel more personal connection to and ownership over these words 🙂 )
