The whispering wonder
of your so eager smile
completely dazzles
the old worn soul of me.
I never knew such truth
could dwell in eyes
so small yet tremendous,
innocently reflecting stars.
For every dark moment
the angry cracking joints
of this cantankerous fool
grumble for needed peace,
there are a thousand more
when my spirit soars
at the merest sight of your
honestly shining face.

oh never mind my last question, . I see you have another little one. She’s so cute. I miss that age, mine’s going to be 25 next month!

25??? I don’t think I will survive that long. I’m exhausted already! Is that your Adrian? Is he off on his own now?

Yes it is. He has been off on his own since he left for university and now in Brooklyn working 👍🏻

lovely poems btw, several of mine were inspired by my son, Adrian as well.

It just has to happen that way, doesn’t it, Jay–inspiration from the weans. They become so hugely important in our lives, our hearts. Sometimes all I have to do is look at one of them–as with this last poem of mine–and the words just start flowing.

What? Even with all the grey hair? Ah, David, you’re a generous man, you are.

At least you’ve got hair – more than I can say for myself 👨🦲

I’m afraid a kippah can only conceal so much baldness, my friend. But then, I think I can see a fair bit of hair still peeking out from there. And it has color to it! Ah, the heady days of youth!

my kippah is quite big – and, yes, I do have hair on the sides, but I’m increasingly seeing white hairs all over the place. (they seem to go from black to white – with no grey stage in the middle!)

So so wonderful. Very relatable (second to last stanza included haha). Beautiful photos too. 💗

Exactly. It’s astonishing. And a little scary how quickly it all happens. Or seems to happen. Thank you.

Not scary just fast – I wish you could save memories in a Rolodex and go visit them as you pleased ❤️
I always remember thinking “please freeze this moment” unfortunately I do not possess that power lol … I just always wished for it
Time in a bottle ya know?
